Abstract

This study provides guidelines to help ports in the region become regional or national logistics centres with sophisticated logistics capabilities and innovative logistics systems. It analyses the commercial development of logistics centres in the ESCAP region and factors that determine the location of logistics centres. It also provides case studies of the world’s leading ports and reviews the major functions, facilities and operations of value-added logistics centres.
